Celebrating moldmaking with our youth – a foundation for our future. 

On  #MfgDay23  here in Windsor-Essex, it was a testament to local collaboration  with over 1000 students and 20 manufacturers taking part.

Team Cavalier welcomed over 350 for shop tours – along with support from our suppliers

who set up information stations throughout the facility to showcase opportunities in the supply chain partners. 

A  monumental undertaking indeed!

We know the value of supporting youth to promote our industry.

“Manufacturing Day changes the perception of careers in mold manufacturing to reflect how it is the most advanced and high-tech industry in the world,” says Cavalier CFO Diane Woodiwiss. 

Our #CavalierArmy outdid themselves in showcasing our people, process and equipment – the foundation of what makes the Cavalier experience so valued by our customers and suppliers. 

Assistant GM Doug Brockman says Manufacturing day was a great success at Cavalier. 

“Thank you to everyone involved for arranging this event. Manufacturing Day allowed many young people from our community to be exposed to endless possibilities,” he says.

That ‘s a question Cavalier hoped to get many youth thinking about because there are so many opportunities in manufacturing – and moldmaking will also be a necessary part of the supply chain.

Workforce WindsorEssex, Invest WindsorEssex, the Canadian Association of Moldmakers, and Automate Canada partnered  with area school boards and industry to organize the region’s MFG Day – a North American-wide initiative aimed at sharing technology and career opportunities in modern manufacturing with high school students.

This group says the day-long initiative is designed to address the skilled labor shortage, connect with the future workforce, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and help ensure the ongoing prosperity of the region’s largest industry.

In the news release from these organizations, they shared this information;

– According to Statistics Canada’s August 2023 Labour Force Survey, it is estimated that the region has 35,200 people employed in manufacturing, or approximately 18.4% of the region’s 190,400 employed workforce.

– Students and jobseekers will tour local manufacturing facilities to experience a day in the life, ask questions, and engage in hands-on activities.
